How to offer CEUs through a podcast as a BCBA
Published April 8, 2026
Podcast CEUs come up in almost every CEU Builder workshop I run, usually from a BCBA who's been thinking about it for a year and assumes the operational side is going to be a nightmare. It isn't. Podcasts are quietly becoming one of the most popular ways behavior analysts earn CEUs — they're free to listen to, on-demand, and fit into a commute. If you already host one (or you're thinking about starting one), layering CEUs on top is one of the highest-leverage things you can do. Here's how it actually works.
Can BCBAs really earn CEUs by listening to a podcast?
Yes — as long as the CEU is issued by a BACB-authorized ACE provider and the listener completes a compliant assessment (at least three questions per CEU hour) plus an evaluation. The "listening" is the educational content; the assessment is what makes it count as a CEU.
How do I set up CEUs for a podcast episode?
Three steps. (1) Set up the episode in your certificate platform as a course — title, instructor, CEU type, hours. (2) Add three questions per CEU hour and an evaluation. (3) Drop the shareable quiz link in your show notes. Listeners click the link, take the quiz, and a BACB-compliant certificate hits their inbox automatically. You never touch anything per-listener, which is the whole point.
Do I need a website or LMS to offer podcast CEUs?
No. The shareable quiz link works on its own — you put it in your show notes (Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Substack, wherever). You can also embed the quiz on a landing page if you have one, but it's not required. This is one of the biggest advantages of podcast CEUs over traditional formats: the entire delivery system is a single link.
How do I charge for podcast CEUs?
Two common models. The most popular is "free podcast, paid CEU": the episodes are free for everyone, but the CEU certificate is gated behind a one-time payment. The other is a paid podcast subscription with CEU access included. Most providers I've talked to go with the first model because it grows the audience fastest and turns the podcast into a top-of-funnel for the CEU business.
How does the BACB audit podcast CEUs?
Exactly the same way it audits any other CEU: they may ask for the assessment, the evaluation, the learner's submission record, and proof the certificate was issued. As long as your platform stores all of that automatically, podcast CEUs are no harder to defend than in-person workshop CEUs. They're actually easier in some ways because the trail is fully digital from the start.
What CEU types can I offer through a podcast?
Learning CEUs are the easiest fit and the most common. You can also offer Ethics CEUs through a podcast if the episode content is genuinely focused on the BACB Ethics Code. Supervision CEUs are technically possible but harder to defend — most providers I know stick to Learning and Ethics for podcast formats.
Podcast CEUs are a long game. You're building an audience and a CE catalog at the same time. The providers I see succeed at it are usually the ones who make the listener experience the smoothest — one click, no friction, certificate in your inbox before you finish your coffee. The content gets you on the playlist. The experience gets you the repeat listener.
About CEU Lab Certs
I'm an Org ACE Provider who spent years manually creating CEU certificates and stitching together clunky systems that weren't built for the BACB's changing requirements. I built CEU Lab Certs to be the tool I wished existed — BACB-compliant templates, shareable quiz links, automated certificate delivery, and audit-ready records in one place, so you can spend your time teaching instead of doing certificate admin on a Sunday.

Selling CEUs as a BCBA is mostly about removing friction — for your buyer and for yourself. Here's what I've learned from running an Org ACE Provider account and from teaching this in workshops.
