How to embed a CEU quiz on your website for behavior analysts

For most of my early years as an ACE provider, my "quiz" was a Google Form and my "certificate delivery" was me, in front of a laptop, on a Sunday. The thing nobody warned me about was how much that admin load would shape what I was willing to teach. I cut events. I delayed launches. I sat on content I knew people wanted because I dreaded the followup. Embedding a real CEU quiz directly on your training site is one of the smallest changes that fixes the biggest version of that problem — and it doesn't require a developer or an LMS.
What does it mean to "embed" a CEU quiz on a website?
Embedding a quiz means dropping a small snippet of HTML (usually an <iframe>) into a page on your site so the quiz loads inside that page. Your learner never has to navigate away — they read your course content, scroll down, take the quiz, and get their certificate. From the BACB's perspective, what matters is that the quiz delivers the required assessment, captures the learner's identifying information, and triggers issuance of a compliant certificate. How it gets onto the page is irrelevant.
Do I need a developer to embed a CEU quiz?
No, and this is the part most providers I work with are surprised by. A modern certificate platform generates a one-line embed snippet you paste into any website builder — WordPress, Squarespace, Wix, Webflow, Kajabi, Teachable, or a plain HTML page. If you can paste a YouTube video into a page, you can paste a quiz embed. The whole "I need to hire someone" assumption is what keeps a lot of small providers stuck on Google Forms for years longer than they need to be.
What does a BACB-compliant CEU quiz need to include?
Per BACB ACE provider guidelines, you need at least three assessment questions per CEU hour, an evaluation component, and verification of the learner's identity. The quiz also has to record a pass/fail outcome that you can produce on request during an audit. A good embedded quiz captures all of this automatically, so you're not stitching it together from spreadsheets after the fact.
Can the same embedded quiz work for live and on-demand learners?
Yes — and this is one of the biggest reasons I switched away from a separate Google Form per event. A single shareable quiz link (or the same embed) can serve both your live attendees and the people who later watch a recording. Each submission is logged independently, so your audit trail is clean and you're not maintaining two parallel systems for the same content.
What happens after a learner passes an embedded CEU quiz?
On a well-built quiz platform, the moment a learner passes, a BACB-compliant PDF certificate is generated and emailed to them automatically. You don't touch anything. The submission, the score, the certificate, and the learner's contact info are stored together so when someone emails you nine months later asking for a re-issue (and they will), you can find it in seconds instead of digging through your sent mail.
Does an embedded quiz still count toward BACB compliance?
Yes. The BACB cares about the content of the assessment, the evaluation, and your recordkeeping — not whether the quiz lives on your domain or a third-party domain. As long as the platform you use captures the required data and generates compliant certificates, embedding is fully acceptable.
The single most useful question I ask providers in my CEU Builder workshops is, "What's the part of your CEU process you dread most?" For almost everyone, it's the after — the certificates, the followup, the "can you resend mine?" emails. Embedding solves the front end of that. Automation solves the rest. Once both are in place, you stop limiting how much you publish.
